At Synaps Media, we are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our users. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of information we collect, how it is used, and the steps we take to protect your personal information. This policy applies to all services offered by Synaps Media, including our Ghost hosting services.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 User-Generated Content

We store all content that users enter via the Ghost admin panel, including but not limited to posts, media contents, comments, and settings. This information is stored to provide the hosting services and to ensure the proper functioning of your websites.

1.2 Visitor Statistics

We collect anonymous visitor statistics for the websites we host. This includes information such as page views, referral sources, and basic browser details. This data is collected to provide website owners with insights into the performance and usage of their websites. IP addresses collected for visitor statistics are anonymized by removing the last octet before storage.

1.3 Account Information

When you create an account with Synaps Media, we collect information such as your name, email address, and any other contact details you provide. This information is used to manage your account, provide customer support, and communicate with you about your service.

1.4 Payment Information

We use Stripe to collect payments. For payment related data, you can check Stripe's Privacy Policy.

1.5 Referral Program

If a visitor comes to our website with a "ref" query parameter in the URL, that mostly means this visit comes from another customer's website as a part of our Referral Program. To make this system work, we save this referrer code to cookie for 90 days. If a visitor sign-ups with a referrer code in the cookie, this information saved to our database for linking the user and to the referrer.

2. Use of Information

The information we collect is used to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our services
  • Improve, personalize, and expand our services
  • Understand and analyze how you use our services
  • Develop new products, services, features, and functionality
  • Communicate with you, either directly or through one of our partners, including for customer service, to provide you with updates and other information relating to the website, and for marketing and promotional purposes
  • Process your transactions
  • Find and prevent fraud

We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Contract: Processing necessary to provide the Services you have subscribed to.
  • Legitimate interest: Analytics and fraud prevention.
  • Legal obligation: Compliance with applicable laws.
  • Consent: Where you have explicitly provided consent, such as for marketing communications.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personally Identifiable Information unless we provide users with advance notice. This does not include website hosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or serving our users, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release information when its release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others' rights, property or safety.

Data processed on behalf of customers

Where Synaps Media hosts a Ghost instance on behalf of a customer, personal data collected by that customer's website (such as member data or contact form submissions) is processed by Synaps Media as a data processor, not a controller. Such processing is governed by our Data Processing Agreement. The customer is the data controller for that data and is responsible for their own privacy obligations toward their website visitors.

5. Data Security

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.

6. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and other relevant laws, you have rights including access to your data, correction of any incorrect data, deletion of your data, and objection to certain uses of your data. If you wish to exercise these rights, please contact us at the details provided below.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary to provide the services to you and for legitimate and essential business purposes, such as maintaining the performance of the services, making data-driven business decisions, complying with our legal obligations, and resolving disputes.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.
